The One Million Trees movement aims to rehabilitate and bring back nature and greenery back into our city through the planting of more than a million trees across Digos by December 2021. You and our entire community are the keys to the success of this project – so join us to play an active role in greening Digos!
The City Seedling bank was established in December 2020 to ensure the availability of seedlings for tree planting in the City including the areas of Mt Apo National Park and other protected areas within the city's jurisdiction. The seedling bank`s temporary location is at the Digos City Eco Park , San Nicolas, Tres de Mayo. The City will earmark a permanent location for the seedling bank's continued operation.
The City Government encourages tree planting and is giving the seedlings at our Seedling Bank free to all Digoseños.
The Seedling Bank needs your help to meet the demand of the 1 Million Trees Project. To help you may donate seeds or seedlings or join our Saturdate. Here's how :
To register complete this form or contact our Greening Program Team on 09121911394 You, your family and friends are welcome every Saturday at the Digos City Eco Park to help in planting seeds to raise seedlings. You or your group can also join a scheduled tree-planting activity or request a tree-planting activity to be scheduled for you.
The Digos City Seeding Bank accepts seed and seedling donations, 1 or many, to augment our seedling numbers for tree planting. We accept fruit trees, native forest trees, mangroves, palm trees and other ornamental trees, and native shrubs. You may deliver your donation to the Digos City Eco Park or contact the greening program to arrange for a pick-up
Land owners may register their land for tree planting. The City Government is willing to have your land planted for the purposes of greening and reforestation, such as your land boundaries. The planting is not for commercial purposes and the landowner has to agree to grow and maintain the trees in their property. Depending on the land size and number of trees to be planted, you may be required to sign a memorandum of agreement for the protection of the trees planted in your property.
Adopt a Forest Park is a program that provides businesses and community organizations including religious groups and schools the opportunity to be more involved in improving our city's green spaces, and to contribute to the health, well-being and quality of life of our residents and visitors.
When you adopt a forest park, the City Government will place a sign with your organization name and/or logo on the site in recognition of your contribution. You will be able to work with the City and Barangay Governments on the planting design of the forest park.
