The capital of the province of Davao del Sur, Digos City lies on the eastern shores of Davao Gulf on the island of Mindanao. With a land area of 287.10 square kilometers, it is 13.27% of Davao del Sur’s total area. A component city home to 188,376 inhabitants, the city is composed of 26 barangays and serves as the commercial, cultural, and educational hub of the province. The Philippines' tallest peak Mt. Apo, can be found in Brgy. Kapatagan, and there can be found more attractions for visitors to explore as well. Hon. Josef Fortrich Cagas, is the present mayor.

The residents of Digos City go out of their way to help visitors, they are friendly and accomodating. As far as living costs go, it's very reasonable and inexpensive. Digos offers lower prices on produce than its nearby cities.

The Digos City is now part of Metro Davao (Metropolitan Davao) and is known as the "Mango Capital of Philippines". Digos was converted into a city on September 8, 2000.
